Students at KIS kindergarten had the opportunity to learn some important life lessons through community service. Our kindergartners visited a nursing home this month and it was a memorable and touching field trip. We all got so much joy out of the visit. The idea of this particular trip choice was to help our students become comfortable with people of all ages, and to brighten the Christmas season up for the elders. We explained the students that the people living in nursing homes often feel lonely, and excluded, and that this visit will cheer them up. It was also a valuable experience in exchange between the elderly and our youngest generations. The students had the chance to showcase their performances but also to attend the performance of nursing home tenants, which they enjoyed quite a lot. We hope that this helped the children to have the better understanding of the oldest members of society, and to learn to value their life-experience and the stories they can tell.
